Frameworks / Outgrow
Your next sale is a phone call you haven't made.
Most companies only call customers when something's wrong. Outgrow turns that around: small, frequent, helpful outreach, tracked every week.
From the book Outgrow by Alex Goldfayn (2025)
›Four elements, every week
A helping mindset, the right customers, proactive outreach and a weekly rhythm. Small actions, repeated, grow the account list.
The idea
In brief.
In Outgrow, Alex Goldfayn makes a simple case. Your biggest growth opportunity isn't a new market or a new product. It's the customers you already have, especially the ones nobody has talked to in a while. They'd buy more from you. They just don't know what else you do, and nobody has asked.
The system has four elements. A culture where salespeople see themselves as helping customers, not selling to them. A clear picture of which customers to reach. Proactive communication: quick calls, check-ins and ideas, before anything is wrong. And a weekly process that plans the outreach, logs it and tracks what it produced.
None of it is complicated, and that's the point. The book backs each element with worksheets and tactics, and the growth comes from doing small things every week.
The system
Four elements.
01
Culture and mindset
Growth starts with how the team thinks about selling. When people believe they're helping customers, they reach out more, and it stops feeling pushy.
02
The customers
Most of the growth is already in your customer list. Know who buys, what else they could buy and who hasn't heard from you lately.
03
The proactive communications
Short, frequent outreach that isn't triggered by a problem: a check-in call, a quick idea, a "did you know we also do this?"
04
The weekly process
Plan the outreach, do it, log it and review what it produced, every week. The behaviors that get tracked are the ones that keep happening.
- Find the hidden revenueWe look for the accounts that buy one thing from you and could buy three, and the ones nobody has called in months.
- Shift the mindsetI work with your salespeople and customer-facing staff on reaching out to help, not to sell. It changes how the calls feel on both ends.
- Build the weekly rhythmA simple weekly target for proactive calls, a place to log them and a short weekly look at what they produced.
- Put it on the scorecardOutreach becomes a number the team reviews every week, so it doesn't fade after the first month.

Questions to ask your team.
- How many customers did we call this week when nothing was wrong?
- Which customers buy one thing from us and could buy more?
- Do our customers know everything we sell?
- Who hasn't heard from us in 90 days?
- Do we track sales activity every week, or only results?
