Leadership: Always needed, rarely taught
Uncertainty is where leadership is most needed. Great leaders create systems, instill confidence, keep people focused, and put issues into context. They find a port and steer the ship through the storm.
So, why isn’t leadership taught in most businesses? Why isn’t there a mandatory leadership/management training once someone is promoted from being an individual contributor? For starters, I don’t believe we have a business culture of training managers or leaders. Another possible reason is that it is extremely difficult to prioritize training when a company is growing fast. But, in order to fix a problem, we have to first recognize there is a problem.
In this newsletter I’ve included two pieces of content based on the topic of leadership and management. As a goal of simplifying and providing context, I hope they send you in a positive direction.
I’ve also included two articles focused on current business climates, one podcast focused on scientific studies and one podcast on how Google’s CEO views A.I. I hope they provide insights and context to thrive in April.
Sincerely,
Ryan
